You may feel
like the girl who no one thinks is attractive… you never seem to catch the eye
of men whether in school or at work. All your girlfriends are getting picked up
by fancy cars, taken out to romantic getaways over the weekend, bought for
expensive gifts and you feel as though you are just a spectator, saying to
yourself after all they are way prettier
than I am so they deserve it.
And all the
while God is like ..WAIT..WHAT?
I created you in my own image and
likeness…You are my masterpiece (Ephesians 2 :10).
You are so precious to me and you are
bought at a price; not of corruptible like gold and silver but of the precious
blood of Jesus. (1 Peter 1:18).
When are you going to stop looking at
yourself as the world sees you and start looking at yourself as I see you?
Why are you getting your value from what world
says or thinks about you?
The world didn’t create you, I did and you are
so valuable to me that I had to die for you on the cross.
Your worth
and value is NOT in dating the cutest guy on campus or the richest dude at the
workplace, just so that all your girlfriends and peers can be impressed and
compliment you on how fine he is or how loaded he is.
Your worth
and value is in Christ and Christ alone- not in how many heads you turn when
you enter a room or whether your girlfriends/bff thinks you’re pretty enough to be with a
certain type of man. Are you letting the
opinions of the world dictate to you who you are or are you letting the Word of
God define you?
Colossians
2:10 says that you are complete in Jesus, who is
the head of all principality and power. So girl, if no one notices you
or asks you out like everyone else is, I want to you to repeat this scripture
out loudly with your mouth. The Word of God is not like the words of men; it contains power and it’s a sword that
we use to fight back those feelings or ideas that creep into our minds and
hearts ... that tell us we ain’t good enough. I have come to realize that I
can’t afford to just sit back and let the enemy fill my mind with his lies and his
junk- I need to fight back , and we fight back with the speaking out the word
of God. Just like Jesus did when tempted by Satan – he fought back with
scripture saying “IT IS WRITTEN”.
Now am not saying that our go around looking
sloppy and don’t make your hair, or you avoid wearing some cute clothes- all am saying is that we need to put our confidence in God
alone not even in our outward appearance or how many compliments we get from
people.
Paul said in
Phillipians 3 :3 For we [Christians] are the true circumcision, who
worship God in spirit and by
the Spirit of God and exult and glory and pride ourselves in Jesus
Christ, and put no confidence or dependence
[on what we are] in the flesh and on
outward privileges and physical
advantages and external
appearances.
Our glory and our pride is not in how we look, how many dudes are attracted to us, what designer labels we wear, how many degrees we’ve accumulated, our accomplishments, how many followers you get on social media or how sexy and ripped your body is – nope! Our pride and glory is in Christ; all these other things will fade away but Christ and His love is eternal (forever!)

So here is
to taking our eyes off ourselves and the standards of this world (and who thinks
we are pretty or not pretty enough) and putting your eyes back on Jesus – and
seeing yourself as Christ sees you, period!!
No more trying to compare yourself with the
women on your instagram feed, reality shows or others around us, but to be who God
created you to and to go after Jesus, pursuing the call of God over your life
and being used by Him to bring all glory
to God.
