There
is a place God has delivered you from and you are still looking back and
wishing you could go back and have the things you used that God separated you
from. In your heart you secretly miss the clubbing, the friends you used to
spend all your time gossiping and backbiting with others, the boyfriend who you
completely loved but treated you like second best (an option)- and all the
while God was whispering in your heart to let him go. If you could be truly
honest with yourself, you really feel that you had more freedom before you got
saved , chasing worldly things, and whatever you felt like doing you did- no
one stopped you.
The
Israelites went through the same thing in the wilderness. They began to
complain and grumble and in Numbers 11:5-6…its says : “We
remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons,
the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.
But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this
manna to look at.” They wanted to go back to what they used to, the
melons, the onions –but they forgot they were in bondage that was in Egypt. One
thing I have come to learn is that the enemy will remind you of the how good
life was back then but he won’t remind you of the afflictions that made you cry
out to God daily to deliver you.
The enemy will remind you how Friday nights
used to be popping with you squad but he will not remind you how empty and lost
you used to feel on the inside. He will remind you how great of a boyfriend he
used to be taking you out to classy places or taking care of some of your bills
but the enemy will not remind you how treated like another option or like his object. He will remind you how
gorgeous that ex-girlfriend was and all your male friends looked at you with
envy but the enemy will not remind you how materialistic she was, or even how
she kept seducing you into sin when you desired to live a godly and righteous
life unto God.
I
am here to remind you that the life God is calling you to have is far much
greater than the life He delivered you from. Don’t fall for the lie of the
enemy- Colossians 1:13 says we have been
rescued from the dominion of darkness and we have been transferred into the
Kingdom of the Son (Jesus). The devil is mad you got rescued from his hand
because he was about to sift you like wheat but know you have escaped and all
he wants is to bring you back to that low place, to that place of oppression
and a place of defeat.
Its
time shake away the memories of our Egypt- the house of bondage, even if you
enjoyed a few things from your past, you’ve got to know that where God is
taking you is much better- it’s a land
that flows milk and honey. For all the things you lost, God is going to
replace with far much better, but we need to stop secretly desiring the ungodly
lifestyles we used to live that only lead to death and embrace the plans and
purposes that God has for us.
Even
if you are in the wilderness, a dry place and it looks like nothing good is
happening, you need to trust God with your whole heart even if things are not the
way you expected them to be. Our part is to live an upright, godly life –not by
our own power but by the power of the Holy Spirit- and see how God will do
signs and wonders through our lives and all people around us who thought we had
lost it and are psychos or we are a bunch of boring people, they shall see that
we are called by the name of the Lord and they shall fear you (Deutronomy
28:10).
Let
us close the door to every compromising spirit that seeks to draw us back into
bondage and into sin and habits that do not glorify God.
It is not in vain
to live a righteous life, it is not useless to live according
the standards of the Word of God rather than the standards of the world. God
will honor you when you honor him with your life (1 Samuel 2:30).
